Tethered Oral Tissues
Tethered oral tissues (TOTs) are tongue, lip, and buccal (cheek) ties. These are circumstances when the tissue under the tongue (frenulum) is not allowing the tongue to function the way it needs to.
What Does Lori Nevel Do?
Assessments:
Lori will perform a comprehensive evaluation to determine areas of need based on both your child’s strengths and weaknesses. Caregivers will be provided with a complete written report inclusive of the assessment results and treatment recommendations.
Treatment:
Your child’s treatment plan will be individualized to their specific needs and based on their present level of skills to meet their goals. Lori collaborates with the caregivers to develop a plan that involves the family and other team members to maximize the best functional outcomes for the child. She provides treatment in a one-on-one setting with family collaboration.
Consulting:
Some children require more assistance than therapy alone can provide. Lori is passionate about empowering caregivers to advocate for their children and learn how to assemble their team.
In all of Lori’s treatment approaches she incorporates fun, age-appropriate, interactive sessions with games and play and a focus on functional and social language. Caregivers are an integral part of the therapy process and will be trained on how to help their children at home to generalize therapy into their daily lives.
